Produced through a partnership between Rutgers’ Citizenship and Service Education program and the Allstate Foundation, the First Responders Directory is a pocket-sized book listing the contact information for every municipality’s fire, police, and first aid responders as well as local hospitals and utility companies. Learning from disasters like 9-11 and Hurricane Katrina, it was realized that no state-wide directory of New Jersey first responders existed. With funding provide by Allstate and student power provided by Rutgers to compile the information, the First Responder Directory has both a printed and on-line searchable database version (http://frd.case.rutgers.edu). The directory has been well received by state and local Emergency Management officials and is being distributed statewide.
